Shun The Sun Foundation Building First Shade Structure Over Playground At Webster Elementary – Ribbon Cutting
Mesa, AZ – The sun may bear down hard over Arizona -- creating all types of risks for young children-- but as of Fri., April 15, the students of Webster Elementary School will have a whole new layer of protection. Local charity Shun the Sun Foundation will be cutting the ribbon on the first of five shade structures it will dedicate to schools throughout the East Valley. A ceremony at the playground of Webster Elementary will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Fri., April 15, 2011 located at 202 N. Sycamore, Mesa, 85201. Attending the event will be special sponsors Forever Young Foundation, Mesa Leadership Training & Development – Class of 2011, along with additional partners of the 2010 Shun the Sun Skin Cancer Run Event and Foundation.
The event will feature the students of Webster Elementary playing underneath two 40x40 shade structures that were installed by Shade N’ Net Arizona. Through this partnership with Shade N’ Net, the foundation was able to fund additional shades for several of Mesa’s public schools. Additional shades will be constructed at Ida Redbird Elementary in time for the Fall 2011 school year through Shun the Sun’s donations. The event is open to business leaders and members of the Mesa business community and will feature keynote speaker Dr. Greg Allen, founder of Shun the Sun Foundation.
